The 2018 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon will take place in Graz, on March 2 & 3. For its ninth edition, its organisers chose Styria (Austria), thus adding another Sauvignon region to its international list of venues including Bordeaux, Friuli and Rueda.
“Concours Mondial du Sauvignon is certainly among the most influential white wine competitions on the planet and hosting the 2018 edition will help us to enhance the image of Styria as one of the world’s greatest Sauvignon terroirs.”, comments Willi Klinger, Managing Director of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board.

The event aims to promote the Sauvignon blanc varietal and prompt awareness of the huge array of wines available worldwide. It also serves as a buying cue for consumers.
To ensure maximum exposure for award-winning producers, results of the 2018 competition will be announced during ProWein on Sunday 18 March.
The competition is open to all wines made from a majority percentage (51% min.) of Sauvignon and/or Sauvignon Gris, irrespective of provenance, producer or category.
Since 2017, a new category allows Sauvignon-based sparkling wines to take part.
During the tastings, the wines will be divided into consistent flights taking into account the category, origin, percentage of Sauvignon and retail price of each entry.
