Sauvignon’s exceptional aromatic qualities have made it a crowd-pleaser across the globe. The panel, which is composed entirely of professional judges, shares the same passion for the varietal. During the tastings, consistent flights group wines by category, origin, blend proportions and retail prices. Entering the competition offers producers a stepping stone towards greater awareness. The Concours Mondial du Sauvignon is more than just a competition, though – exclusively dedicated to this one grape variety, it serves to illustrate vintage variation and terroir effect.

To ensure maximum exposure for award-winning  producers, the results of this year’s competition will be announced during a presentation at ProWein in Dusseldorf, on March 17 at 4 pm in Hall 13.

The competition is open, without discrimination, to all wines produced mainly (min 51%) from Sauvignon and/or Sauvignon gris, regardless of their producer, origin or category. Since 2017, a new category has been added to offer Sauvignon-based sparkling wines the opportunity to take part.

During the tastings, the wines will be divided into consistent flights, taking into account the category, origin, proportion of Sauvignon and retail price of each entry.
